    The difference between ordinary glass and tempered glass is that: tempered glass is chemically or physically toughened ordinary glass, forming compressive stress on its surface to enhance the glass load-bearing capacity and resistance; ordinary glass is broken in the shape of a slice or a sharp knife, while tempered glass is broken in the shape of a granule, which is less injurious; ordinary glass can be processed twice, while tempered glass can not be.

What is ordinary glass?

    Ordinary glass, also known as window glass or plate glass, is the quartz sand, borax, feldspar and other inorganic minerals through high temperature firing, with light transmission, heat and sound insulation, wear-resistant and other characteristics, commonly used in buildings, windows, doors, walls and interior decoration.

Generally, 2mm and 3mm thickness are used for the surface of picture frames;

The thickness of 5-6mm is suitable for doors and windows and other small areas of light transmittance modeling;

7-9mm thickness is suitable for indoor large area with frame protection modeling;

9-10mm thickness is suitable for indoor large area partition or railing and other projects.

What is tempered glass?

    Toughened glass, also known as safety glass, is a kind of pre-stressed glass, on the basis of ordinary glass through chemical or physical means to form a compressive stress layer on its surface, when the glass is subjected to external forces to first offset the surface stress, thus enhancing the overall performance of the glass. Tempered glass is usually used in automobiles, floor lamp protection, architecture, indoor and outdoor decoration, commercial counters, windows and other fields.

Summary :

The difference between ordinary glass and tempered glass:

1. The bearing capacity of tempered glass is 3-5 times that of ordinary glass, with the same thickness, tempered glass is less affected by the same impact.

2. Ordinary glass is flaky when it breaks, with sharp edges, which is more harmful, while tempered glass is relatively uniform granular when it breaks, which is relatively less harmful.

3. Tempered glass has good thermal stability and can withstand temperature difference of 150℃, which is 3 times of ordinary glass, effectively preventing thermal cracking.

4. The whole piece of ordinary glass is relatively uniform force, while the edge of the tempered glass part is relatively weak, knocking the edge is more fragile.

5. Ordinary glass can be cut using a glass cutter, tempered glass can not be cut or secondary processing.

How to judge tempered glass and ordinary glass?

Ordinary glass and tempered glass at first glance seems to be difficult to distinguish, but in fact there is a big difference between the two, you can distinguish between the following aspects:

01) mark

Tempered glass must carry the 3C certification mark, while ordinary glass will not have this mark. This mark is not wipe off, scrape off, if the mark can be easily removed that is certainly not really tempered glass. This is determined by the processing procedures of tempered glass: first according to the size of the need to cut a good ordinary glass, and then grinding, cleaning, ink with the national certification of the 3C logo, and then after high-temperature firing and become.

02Glass shape

Ordinary glass from the side is very straight, no bending, while tempered glass is not so flat, from the side there will be a little curved. Comparison can be ordinary glass and tempered glass face-to-face close together, observe whether there is a gap between the two, there is a curved undulation of the side is tempered glass.
